Homoeopaths across the State are set to carry out real-time monitoring of the outbreak of infectious diseases linked to weather, especially as monsoon is set to intensify during July-August.
The project, Raincoat, to be launched by the Indian Homeopathic Medical Association (IHMA), Kerala Chapter, is to monitor, prevent, and control monsoon-linked communicable diseases and at the same time compile a comprehensive data on the pattern of outbreak of infectious diseases in various regions.
The project will collect inputs and data from five homoeopathic medical colleges, 14 district hospitals, 17 taluk hospitals, 561 homoeo dispensaries and from private homoeopathic medical practitioners under the IHMA by the end of August, said a statement issued by K.M. Uvaise, president the IHMA, Kerala, on Thursday. A panel of doctors constituted in each district will analyse the data.
Addressing a press meet, Manoj S.P., general secretary, IHMA, Kerala Chapter, said the State body was also planning to organise medical camps in all districts to popularise various curative and preventive medicines against epidemics and seasonal viral fevers.
Volunteer groups willing to conduct homoeopathic medical camps in various localities, including remote and tribal areas, may contact the special unit of the IHMA at 97472 07970, 94005 73452 or 94970 53706.
Based on the project report, special awareness camps on mass epidemics would be organised before the next monsoon in all district centres.
Homoeopathic medicines had proven to be effective deterrents to many mass epidemics, Dr. Manoj said.
