Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent charge) Shripad Yesso Naik has asked the State governments to appoint homoeopathy doctors to serve at Primary Health Centres in rural areas if doctors from the allopathic stream were reluctant to go there.

Also, while appointing homoeopathy doctors, the government should ensure that the salary given to them was at par with what is given to an allopathic doctor in government hospitals.

Inaugurating the ‘Bharatesh Homeopathic Superspecialty Clinics & Research Centre’ of the Bharatesh Education Society (BET), Mr. Naik said that the centre had created a separate ministry for AYUSH only six months ago with the objective of promoting and encouraging alternative system of medicines natives, including homoeopathy, ayurveda, unani and siddha systems.

The ministry recently launched AYUSH Mission under which it plans to open at least one AYUSH clinic in every district government hospital in the country.

He said the government looked forward to create facility to ensure healthcare services to every citizen at an affordable price. Referring to State governments, he said: “Doctors (MBBS) are not available in many PHCs and you allow them to be managed by a Compounder, then why not a qualified homoeopathic doctor?”

Earlier, renowned homoeopath and member of Central Council of Homoeopathy B.R. Rudresh said the goal of ‘health for all by 2020’ could not be achieved in India without participation of homeopathy, while pointing out that the slogan was amended with an extended deadline by 20 more years as the objective was not achieved in by declared 2000 AD.

Director of Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy R.K. Manchanda stressed on research and documentation of homoeopathic practices and signified India’s contribution to it stating that 3 lakh of the 5 lakh homoeopaths in the world were Indians.

BET Chairman Pushpadant P. Doddannavar, Secretary R.S. Doddannavar, Principal S.B. Konkani and Medical Director Sunil Naik were present.
