At present, only 110 doctors have been employed in the homeopathy department while around 900 are registered with the state government.
Dr Pranav Mamgain, chairman of the association, “The funds allocated and vacancies in homeopathy department are being given to ayurveda practitioners. We have secured degrees after clearing exams but don’t have jobs.”
Sources said that homeopathic doctors have been staging protests ever since the Rawat government came to power in March 2017. Though they took out a rally from Parade ground to secretariat on December 2, they were pacified by Ayush minister Harak Singh Rawat who promised more jobs. However, the doctors claimed that the promises were in vain as nothing has changed at the ground level. They added that they would launch an indefinite hunger strike if the state government fails to heed their requests.
“Even though the government is rueing lack of medical facilities in the hills, qualified practitioners like us are not being given an opportunity to render services. If the government does not fulfil our demands, we will go on an indefinite hunger strike,” added Mamgain.
Commenting on the issue, officials of the homeopathy department said that the proposal to provide more jobs is awaiting clearance from the top officials.
